Abstract:

Dalit Entrepreneurs are motivated to progress towards prosperity from poverty. There is a growing consensus that conditions that support Dalit Entrepreneurs’ ability to start and grow business ventures may be different from other caste Entrepreneurs and hence there is a need to examine motivational factors affecting Dalit enterprise development. The present study aims to identify motivational factors for Dalit Entrepreneurs in Central Gujarat to start a business enterprise. In total, 37 face-to-face questionnaires were filled with Dalit Entrepreneurs. A principal component analysis was applied to the data to determine which items are to be kept and which items could be reduced. Cynical conditions, Power and Ambition, Family, and Security were extracted as motivational factors affecting the Dalit Entrepreneurs in the Central Gujarat region.
