Introduction:
The rural healthcare system of India has many lacunas. The entire world today
is grappling with the spreading COVID 19 pandemic and the rural parts of India
is one of the worst affected parts. There is a particular structure of the
rural healthcare system of India which comprises of Community Health Centres,
Primary Health Centres and the Sub Centres. All of this healthcare units have
got certain manpower requirements; however, it is seen that in majority of the
cases, there is a shortage of manpower especially in the Community Health
Centres and the Primary Health Centres.
Purpose:
The objective of this paper is to identify the evident factors pertaining to
the manpower planning which might have an impact on the patient satisfaction.
Methodology:
In this paper, only secondary data will be used. Various papers from different
journals will be studied during this study. From this, various variables which
are related to manpower planning and which affects the patient satisfaction
will be identified.
Implications:
Manpower Planning is seen as a challenge across the healthcare centres in the
rural parts of India. The doctor patient ratio is nowhere near to the ideal
ratio. As such, the individuals residing in the rural parts of India have access
to very poor healthcare centres and they mostly depend upon the urban hospitals
for treatment. Development of the human resource system in parts of the rural
healthcare systems would be a blessing for millions of people across India.
Many lives would also be saved as they would not have to travel thousands of
miles to receive treatment.
Future
Scope of Research: With the proper identification of the
factors affecting patient satisfaction pertaining to human resources planning,
further statistical tools can be applied for model development. A questionnaire
will be developed for both the patients and the human resources working in the
healthcare centres. Primary data can be collected and analysed. Factor analysis
can be done after checking the reliability and validity of the data. This can
be followed by a model development and proving the model with structural
equational modelling. This model will have definite societal implications as it
will help the rural healthcare centres to better manage their human resources
at an optimal level. This would in turn have an positive impact on the degree
of patient satisfaction.
