The COVID-19
pandemic has phenomenally affected education systems in India and all over the
world. To combat COVID-19, lockdown was
imposed on March 25, 2020 (India); which has forced to transform curriculum
into an online format, which is a challenge for all the educational process
participants including teachers and students. It has changed the traditional
education system to the educational technologies, where teaching and
assessments are conducted online.
For the research
purpose, personal interview with faculties and management took place. As well
as, faculties of various self-financed colleges were approached for
questionnaire, from which, 26 responses have been considered for the research
purpose. They were asked to respond to several sets of questions describing
their online teaching experience after the launch of online education amid the
COVID-19 pandemic. The analysis of the participant’s answers helped to identify
the following main challenges experienced by university teachers: computer
literacy level, the university electronic environment and support, academic
staff readiness for online teaching and assessment of different home
environment settings for teachers.
