This study is conducted during the time of COVID-19. This
paper investigates the impact of COVID-19 on the Indian stock market includes
BSE (Bombay stock exchange) and NSE (National stock exchange). We have witnessed
the major fluctuations on NIFTY and SENSEX in the stock market during the
period of March 2020 to July 2021. The curiosity is to study the behaviour of
people of Ahmedabad in the state of Gujarat, that how did they invest in the
stock market during the period of COVID-19. From various demographic factors
like Age, gender, Income and occupation, the research focuses on income factor
as independent variable and studies the behavioural aspect of investment
decisions in stock market during COVID-19 of the people of Ahmedabad. During
COVID-19, many businesses are affected and eventually closed down, people could
not manage to have stable income and many people lost their jobs or have salary
cuts. The present study uses chi-square test of independence. It is observed
that income has a direct association with the frequency of investment, purpose
of investment, risk taking ability, expecting higher returns and investing in
stock market with proper knowledge. It is not influenced by past savings.
