MEGA MERGER OF BANKS IN INDIA – A SNAP SHOT

Abstract:

Today, the Banking System of India is the most growing and flourishing industry through its remarkable change from past few years. In developing country like India banking system plays active role in the growth of economy of country. But the intense competition and rapid increase in the volume of NPA of Public sector banks has lead to the slow development in economy. So that the government has two options either close the banks or merged weaker banks with the strong banks. Closing of the banks has adverse effect as it reduces capital and saving so the only option left is merger of banks. This research paper tries to focus light on the Mega Merger took place on April, 2020 and also provide information about Reason of mega merger Pros and Cons and the Scenario of Public sector banks after the Mega Merger.
