Quality
could be defined as degree of excellence of something. Quality
in education, vocational education could be one which provides the learner with
capabilities they require to become economically productive, develops
sustainable livelihood thereby contributing to an economically productive and
sustainable livelihoods. However, the concept of quality assurance and its
implication for university education cannot be over-emphasised. The need for
quality education cannot be overlooked and implementing quality as its own
concern. Hence, the research highlighted the areas of concern affecting the
implementation of quality in a vocational training institute. The
same was carried out using a five point rating scale titled ‘Quality
Assurance Concept and Concerns-QACC’.
A survey type of research design was adopted and administered on teachers/
service providers to people with Hearing Impairment in a vocational setup. The
tool developed consisted two parameters namely concepts and concerns. Concepts
will cover aspects like quality of the teachers, instruction, accreditation,
inspection, monitoring and evaluation. Concerns will have components like
finance, staff, quality, quantity, lack of facilities, retraining the
trainer(regular update to staff), poor societal attitude, etc .
The
data thus collected was subjected to appropriate statistical analysis. The
study implies to identify the major concerns in successful implementation of
quality in vocational training scenario for young adults with hearing
impairment.
