LONG TERM EFFECTS OF GLOBAL PANDEMIC COVID- 19 ON MENTAL HEALTH OF INDIAN PEOPLE.

Abstract:

The main purpose of the study is to measure the mental health of Indian people during global pandemic covid -19 and its long term effect on mental health.  The present study on the sample of 800 revealed that 64% people have  been found suffering from mental pressure of intense anxiety, fear, and depression and obsession compulsion during pandemic. It has been found that Non corona afflicted people, chronic disease patients from non hotspot area have more mental pressure than corona afflicted people.  , it has been found that  in both groups  corona afflicted and  non corona afflicted people,   men have been found to have higher levels of obsession compulsion, phobia, depression, stress, psychosomatic disorders, intense anxiety and frustration during pandemic covid-19 than their counterparts  (women). In view of the safety of life of the people from corona disease; they have been locked down in the house. Feeling   of isolation or insecurity has arisen from lockdown in home.  People have been using different types of self defense mechanisms to cope up from the realistic current combat situation like denial, displacement, intellectualization, projection, rationalization, reaction formation, regression, repression, sublimation, suppression. it has been found that denial from reality of the defense mechanism  has most commonly and widely used by the people to deal with current combat situation of covid-19.  Exaggerated use of defense mechanism for a long time has become a cause of disintegration in their personality and taken their personality away from reality. As the global pandemic corona spread in India, people here started trying to boost up their immunity through conventional food habits.

Indians started their conventional life style to improve their immunity using basil pepper ,clove, cinnamon, turmeric, ginger, cumin, garlic or  in Ayurvedic treatment to make various decorations.  Drinking turmeric milk increased their immunity. Various types of Ayurvedic treatments and Pranayama and Meditation led to a great increase in the immunity of the people here it has generated positive attitude in them to deal with realistic combat situation.
