THE PROBLEM OF TRANSLATION WITH SPECIAL REFERENCE TO “MANAVI NI BHAVAI & ENDURANCE: A DROLL SAGA”

Abstract:

This paper attempts to present some issues of translation from Second Language to Target Language, and also explore challenges of translator likes, what to translate? Loss of meaning, Addition of meaning. Skewing of meaning. Moreover, the translator tries to explain phenomena of translation through Pannalal Patel’s “Manvi ni Bhavai” (Gujarati novel) which Kantak’s afterwards translates into English called, “Endurance a Droll Saga”. The focus is mainly on the translation activity through both versions of novels (Gujarati and English) with different name. Endurance: A Droll Saga Originally Published In Gujarati In 1947, As Manavini Bhavai Is A Modern Classic. Pannalal draw a new line in writing a novel in Gujarati. Here, there is not only a story of Raju, kalu and others but before four decades people lived in Gujarat and their struggle presents here without any partiality. Manvi ni Bhavai is a story of pictorial picture and the main factor that works is its ‘Time.’ The Translation Seeks To Retain the Essential, if not the whole and the work is part of a trilogy.
