Abstract:

In the educational environment, the teacher transmits knowledge to the students. Exploring a teacher's knowledge helps to understand and learn new and stimulating activities. A faculty member continues to search for new opportunities and topics to explore and gain knowledge. This knowledge must be managed with knowledge management processes (Lawson, 2003) such as creating knowledge, capturing knowledge, organising knowledge, storing knowledge, disseminating knowledge and applying knowledge. This study includes the comparative analysis of the knowledge management and transmission processes between public and private schools. Data was collected from 200 teachers representing 2 public schools and 2 private schools. The analyses suggest that all the six knowledge management (KM) processes are ascetically practiced by the schools surveyed and that there are significant differences in the overall practices of KM processes between the public and private schools. This paper raises awareness and provides initial guidelines to the schools as knowledge-intensive organisations in formulating strategies on how to properly implement and manage their KM processes.
