This qualitative research paper explores the eco-friendly
housing practices prevalent in ancient Indian civilizations and their
harmonious relationship with nature. Through a review of historical texts,
archaeological evidence, and scholarly works, this paper examines the
architectural techniques, materials, and cultural philosophies that guided the
construction of sustainable dwellings in ancient India. By understanding these
ancient practices, valuable insights can be gained for contemporary sustainable
housing initiatives. The findings highlight the relevance of traditional Indian
architectural wisdom in promoting environmental sustainability and fostering a
harmonious coexistence with nature.
