Abstract:

Using a time series linear regression approach, present study examines the gender parity and growth trends in Muslim students' enrollment in higher education from 2010–11 to 2021–22 in India. The regression parameters were estimated, and the coefficient of determination (R2) was used to evaluate the model fit. Gender-wise enrollment and the Gender Parity Index (GPI) were used as a function of time. Both male and female enrollments demonstrate notable upward trajectories, as per the results, with the growth curve for female enrollment being steeper. In the later years of the period, the GPI approached parity after steady improvement. The high R² values across all models (ranging from 0.82 to 0.93) shows the strong explanatory power of the regression model. Forecasts till 2029–30 project continued to show growth among Muslim enrollment as well as improvements in gender parity too. These findings show the progress achieved as well as challenges ahead, offering evidence-based findings for policymakers guiding to strengthen equity and inclusion in higher education in India.
