Abstract:

The service sector is booming, amongst which the healthcare services is one of the front runners. The biomedical healthcare industry is growing at a fast pace and has recorded a yearly 12% growth. Our country’s 2017 National Health Policy emphasizes on providing healthcare for all citizens and increase access, improve quality and lower healthcare delivery costs in the country. Gujarat is evolving in terms of number of Hospitals, Healthcare centers and beds and is expected to grow in the future. The steady flow of manpower is essential for the continued boom and training is essential for retaining them. In an effort to achieve higher competitiveness, there could be attempts to cut down the costs. However, if axe falls on the training expenses, it could be fatal for the business prospects. Hence the identification of training needs is crucial to the success of any organization. Training need identification is the process of identifying the specific skill, knowledge and attitude the required for employees in job. Once needs are identified, a training can be developed to address the gaps. It is evident that when employee skill aligns with organizational objectives; productivity increases, employee turnover reduces and overall job performance is enhanced. In view of this it is important to identify the right mode of quality training by appropriate agencies in a cost-effective manner.
