India
has strong potential to achieve its goal of becoming developed nation till
2047. To achieve this goal Viksit Bharat initiative has been undertaken by
Indian government backed by slogan ‘Bold Vision. Brighter Future’. The purpose
is to fill Indian economy with features like sustainability, proper governance,
social upliftment and prosperity. The main vision
behind this initiative is to achieve sustainable development goal by initiating
efforts in social, economical, environmental and governance areas. Due to
environmental degradation and social inequality, sustainable development
becomes main topic of discussion these days. Micro, Small and Medium
Enterprises (MSMEs) are also accountable for their
obligation towards society and environment. As per data released by World Bank
in the year 2019, world Greenhouse Gasses (GHG) emission was 46.3 billion
tonnes CO2 and out of this India’s share was 3.4 billion tonnes. Most of the
GHG emissions in India come from industrial sector and contribution of MSMEs in
this area is quite significant. However, major step taken by Indian government
towards this is ‘Zero Defect Zero Effect’ (ZED) initiatives. This paper
presents sustainability practices in Indian MSMEs and highlights the green
technology and green financing practices available for MEMEs. This paper
discussed the area where green financing is required and also summarizes the
government initiatives for easy access to green financing by MSMEs.
