Gender sensitivity in education is a crucial factor
in ensuring equity and inclusivity in learning environments. This study
examines the determinants of gender sensitivity among higher secondary students
in Tripura, considering socio-economic, cultural, institutional, and
policy-related factors. Using a quantitative approach, data were collected from
students across diverse backgrounds to analyze their perceptions and
experiences regarding gender sensitivity in schools. The study identifies key
determinants such as individual determinants, socio-cultural determinants,
institutional determinants, socio-economic determinants and policy and
governance determinants. Findings reveal that while schools have made progress
in promoting gender-inclusive education, traditional gender norms, economic
disparities, and inadequate policy implementation continue to hinder full
gender equity. The study highlights the need for gender-responsive pedagogy,
sensitization programs, and policy reforms to create a more inclusive
educational environment. The insights gained provide valuable recommendations
for educators, policymakers, and stakeholders to enhance gender sensitivity and
equitable learning opportunities in Tripura.
