Abstract:

This study examines the factors affecting job satisfaction among online food delivery workers in Ahmedabad, India. A survey was conducted with 75 delivery workers (53 male, 22 female) to understand the importance of various job satisfaction factors. Key factors like wages, working conditions, and company support emerged as most important for overall job satisfaction. However, a gender-based analysis found some differences - flexibility/autonomy and paid leaves were considered more important by female workers. The data suggests catering job policies to gender needs. Tailored incentives, flexible schedules, and expanded leave benefits for female workers could improve satisfaction. Regular feedback collection was recommended to understand worker needs. Further qualitative research is suggested to explore gender differences in more depth and study the impact of satisfaction on outcomes like productivity and retention. The findings provide implications for online delivery platforms to develop targeted strategies to attract, retain and motivate their diverse workforce through improved job satisfaction.
