“Threads of Identity: Fashion as a Symbol of Self-Expression in Kavita Daswani’s For Matrimonial Purposes” is a research paper that explores how characters use fashion to assert their identities, challenge societal norms, and navigate cultural expectations. The study uncovers the relationships between fashion, gender roles, societal norms, and cultural heritage, highlighting fashion’s emotional and psychological dimensions as a means of self-expression and empowerment. The paper suggests potential areas for future research, such as exploring the intersections of fashion with race, class, and cultural heritage and addressing ethical considerations and sustainability practices within the fashion industry.
