READING HABITS AND LEISURE USE OF PUBLIC LIBRARY BY USERS: SPECIAL REFERENCE OF DISTRICT LIBRARY OF AHMEDABAD CITY

Abstract:

In this research the aim is to find out users   reading habits and leisure time use of public library. The primary data was collected from the district library users. Questionnaire and personal meet tools was used to collect the data. Data collected from 51 users by questionnaires was distributed to know their attitudes towards reading habits and purpose of the visiting public library. It is observed from the study that most of the men (68.6%) use reading habits and leisure while women (31.4%) have less habit of reading and leisure. Researchers also observe that mostly adult, students are the major users of the public library. Students visit library for their competitive exam preparations and updating their knowledge and aged people visit library to read newspaper and books which are the major source used by public library. Women visit library for stress free and enjoy reading. This article is use full in present and future reading habits developing and promoting in next generation.
